Quick checks
- Make sure both iPhones are running a compatible ShortbliP version.
- Turn on Bluetooth and keep ShortbliP’s Bluetooth permission enabled.
- Allow Local Network access for ShortbliP in iOS Settings.
- Keep the devices physically nearby while discovery and peer authentication complete.
- If iOS was recently restarted or ShortbliP was force-quit, open the app once on each device.
Common questions
I can see someone, but they cannot see me.
Check Bluetooth permission on both phones, keep both apps open for the initial test and confirm the phones are physically close. iOS can deliver nearby events asymmetrically for short periods; ShortbliP’s discovery layer continuously retries while fresh presence remains available.
Chat says reconnecting or a message is delayed.
ShortbliP keeps the authenticated local link alive while Bluetooth still confirms proximity. If the peer-to-peer data path becomes half-open, the app reconnects and retries priority private objects. Stay within range for a few seconds and avoid toggling Bluetooth or Wi‑Fi during the exchange.
A Post or Moment appears later than chat.
ShortbliP intentionally prioritizes control traffic, chat and new social objects ahead of larger media transfers. A thumbnail or object can arrive before full-resolution media. Remaining nearby allows the media queue to finish.
Why did nearby content disappear?
The feed is presence-bound by design. When fresh physical-proximity evidence expires, another person’s nearby content is no longer shown. If you meet again later, eligible recent content can appear again.
Can ShortbliP work in Airplane Mode?
That depends on which radios iOS leaves enabled. ShortbliP requires Bluetooth for presence and local peer-to-peer networking for content transfer. If Airplane Mode disables those radios, the nearby network cannot operate until they are enabled again.
Can I delete a chat?
Yes. Use the chat menu to delete the local conversation. ShortbliP also keeps a local deletion cutoff so old reconciled objects do not immediately recreate the deleted chat. A genuinely new message can start it again.
Can I delete my Story / Moment?
Yes. Delete your Moment from its viewer. ShortbliP distributes a signed deletion/expiry record to honest nearby peers so their local copy can be removed when synchronization occurs.
Can screenshots of chat be blocked?
ShortbliP can protect/redact supported capture states such as screen recording or mirroring. iOS does not provide a supported mechanism that guarantees blocking every one-shot hardware screenshot before it is created. The app does not use unsupported secure-text-field hacks to pretend otherwise.
Why can background discovery stop after I force-quit the app?
iOS may limit or suppress background Bluetooth behavior after the user explicitly force-quits an app. Reopen ShortbliP to restore normal operation.

When possible, include your iPhone model, iOS version, ShortbliP version, what you expected, what happened and whether both devices were physically nearby. Do not email private chat content unless it is necessary and you intentionally choose to share it.
